About Celso Oliveira

My journey in photography began with my role at Território MLS, which was honed by my podcast work at Voices of the Black and Gold, one of the fastest Los Angeles Football Club podcasts around.

My Photo Journalism Journey

As a credentialed photographer for Major League Soccer, I capture high-quality sports images and help promote and co-host over 100 live video cast episodes. I am also the lead contributor and publisher for Territorio MLS. Under my guidance, the website achieved over 4 million monthly Google impressions through effective SEO strategies.

During my time as one of the Creators of The Best Drink Ever, I took photos of hospitality venues and bartenders and spearheaded social media growth, attracting, at some point, a rate of 1,000 followers daily.

I also continue to author engaging articles on spirits, bar personalities, and local venues, fostering community engagement and brand awareness.

Data Engineer Experience

In parallel with my work in photojournalism, I have built a robust career in data engineering. At FanDuel, I collaborated with different teams to build reporting tools for business managers and analysts. My tenure at Generate Life Sciences saw me leverage AWS tools to develop a new process and profitability model, showcasing my data analytics and cloud computing proficiency.

My early days of data, following a transition from the Banking world

Earlier in my career, I honed my skills as a Product Manager at Mammoth Media, where I played a crucial role in extracting and modeling cohort data, supporting strategic business decisions, and forecasting significant ad revenue. My diverse experience also includes a successful stint as Vice President of Treasury Management Sales at Wells Fargo Bank, where I became a Vice President in Downtown Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.

My education

I hold a Full-Stack Web Development certificate from UCLA Extension, an MBA with a focus in Marketing from Pepperdine University, and a BS in Management and Information Systems with a minor in Spanish from Ohio State University.

My multifaceted expertise spans sports photography, SEO, WordPress, and advanced data engineering concepts, making me a versatile professional adept at bridging the worlds of visual media and technology.

In my free time, I enjoy exploring the City of Los Angeles with my family and often traveling through our beautiful state, where I’ve lived intermittently since 2006. My interests, though ever-changing, typically reside in the dynamic intersection of sports and technology, where I continually seek new ways to tell compelling stories through my lens and data insights.

My Languages

While I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, I began learning English at age 5, mostly through games and TV entertainment. Soon after, I took English lessons outside of school, culminating in two Study Abroad programs, one in Australia and the other in the US, in Ohio, where I first lived for 10 months before deciding to attend Ohio State.

I also spent time in Spain during another study abroad program, this time for six weeks to focus on the language and its phonetics. Soon after, I decided to pursue a minor in Spanish, which helped me acquire fluency and become conversational in my third language.
